Dog Friendly Restaurants on the Outer Banks
The list below is places with real outdoor seating where dogs are genuinely welcome — decks, patios, and picnic tables, listed north to south. One rule of the road before you go: patio policies shift with seasons, health inspections, and new owners. If dinner depends on it, call first. We'd rather tell you that than pretend a list on the internet controls a restaurant's porch.

Corolla
- Bacchus Wine & Gourmet — gourmet deli and wine shop with a shaded outdoor seating area where dogs are welcome.
- Corolla Cantina — Mexican-coastal, covered outdoor patio, dogs welcome.
- Sooey's BBQ & Rib Shack — barbecue with outdoor tables (also in Nags Head).
Duck
- NC Coast Grill & Bar — waterfront deck along the Duck boardwalk, dogs welcome, sound sunsets included.
- AQUA Restaurant — outdoor deck over the Currituck Sound; they say "well-behaved dogs," so maybe skip it on the dog's zoomies day.
- The Roadside Bar & Grille — Southern seafood with outdoor seating where dogs are welcome.
All three pair naturally with a leashed lap of the Duck boardwalk.
Kitty Hawk
- Art's Place — the classic beach-road grill; covered porch and ocean-view deck where dogs are welcome.
- John's Drive In — a Kitty Hawk institution; umbrella-shaded picnic tables, dolphin-watching across the beach road, dogs everywhere.
- Shipwrecks Taphouse & Grill — taphouse with outdoor seating, dogs welcome.
Kill Devil Hills
- American Pie Pizza & Homemade Ice Cream — pizza and homemade ice cream with outdoor tables. A scoop for you; ask nicely about a taste for the dog.
Nags Head
- Fish Heads Bar & Grill — on the ocean at Outer Banks Pier; the deck over the water is the best dog-welcome view on the beach.
- Tortugas' Lie — Caribbean-leaning local favorite; porch and patio seating with the dog.
- Mulligan's Grille — big outdoor dining area, dogs welcome.
- Waveriders Coffee, Deli & Market — the morning stop: coffee and breakfast on a deck built for dogs.
- Sugar Shack Fish Market, Oyster Bar & Grill — shaded picnic tables, fresh catch, dogs welcome.
- Sugar Creek Seafood — waterfront on the causeway with outdoor seating.
- Yellow Submarine — Beatles-themed pizza with outdoor tables.
- Sooey's BBQ & Rib Shack — the Nags Head location of the barbecue standby.
Playing The Salty Dog? Waveriders before, Fish Heads after is the correct answer.
Manteo
- Lost Colony Brewery & Café — craft brewery with shaded outdoor tables where dogs are welcome; pairs with a 6-foot-leash stroll on the Manteo waterfront.
Ocracoke
- Zillie's Island Pantry — wine, beer, and provisions with a deck made for lingering; dogs welcome. The ferry ride there takes leashed dogs on deck, which is half the outing.
