The one thing we cannot do from a desk is stand at the door and ask. If a place waved you in, or turned you away, or the sign on the deck says something different now — tell us. It takes a minute, and it makes the next person’s week easier.
Thank you — that has landed. Every note gets read. If it changes a page it will change within a few days, and if we cannot confirm it with the business we will say so on the page rather than quietly drop it.

What happens to it
Notes get checked against the business before they change a page — that is what the They say so and Reported labels around this site mean. Tell us a place is dog friendly and, if they confirm it themselves when we ring, it goes up as They say so. If we cannot get hold of them, it goes up as Reported, with your account standing behind it. If it contradicts what the business publishes, we will say that too.
Corrections are every bit as welcome as recommendations. A dead phone number, a business that has closed, a leash rule that changed over the winter — those are the ones that quietly make a guide useless, and they are the hardest to catch from here. Five Outer Banks businesses lost their websites in the time it took to build this site.
